Yes. Custom sections are added via the theme's sections directory and registered with a schema block so they appear in the Shopify editor with properly labelled controls. This approach works with any Shopify theme regardless of who built the original.
Will theme customisations survive when the theme updates?
Changes made directly to theme files can be overwritten when the theme updates. We document every change we make and recommend working on a duplicate of the theme file so the customised version is always preserved. We also advise on which changes are most at risk from a theme update.
How long does Shopify theme customisation take?
